Outpatient Services

Outpatient services are a key component of the care of patients who come to Duncan Hospital.

OPD (Out Patient Department) Hours:

Registration: Monday to Saturday 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Thursdays: 8:00 am to 11:30 am

OPD timing: Monday to Saturday 8:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Thursdays: 8:00 am to 1:30 am


Emergency services: 24-hour emergency services with full time doctor and trained nursing staff provides efficient service. This is facilitated by 24-hour, upgraded laboratory, X-Ray and pharmacy services.

Medical Services. 

Department of Medicine

                              The Department of Medicine cares for a large number of patients each year. Some of the most common reasons for admission to the hospital include pesticide poisoning and snakebites. Many patients are admitted with acute encephalitis during the wet months from July-October prompting the hospital to initiate a research study on this issue.. There are also significant numbers of patients with Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis, COPD, MI (heart attack), diabetes, hypertensive emergencies, pneumonias and strokes.The Pastoral team and Whole Person Care (WPC) team members support the medical team in the counseling of patients admitted with acute conversion disorders and suicidal attempts.

Department of Critical Care:

             The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Duncan Hospital consists of 10 beds and patients are admitted from all departments. There are 5 adult and 2 neonatal ventilators available for patients. The unit also has access to 2 BiPAP machines for noninvasive ventilatory support. There is also an arterial blood gas (ABG) analyzer in the ICU. A mobile X-ray machine is available within the ICU which is very useful for immobile and ventilated patients. In addition there is adequate monitoring equipment and infusion pumps for inotrope administration.

Department of Anesthesiology

The department of anesthesiology provides care for patients who require specialized care, especially patients with complicated obstetric conditions.

Department of General Surgery

                The general surgical services at Duncan Hospital are provided by qualified surgeons, covering a range of procedures that included major abdominal trauma, malignancy and obstructions / perforations, as well as providing the needed back-up for difficult obstetric and gynecological surgeries. The excellent support of the anesthetic department enabled us to perform fairly extensive procedures.

Besides work in the operating room, the surgical department also provides endoscopic facilities.

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

A range of obstetrics and gynecology services are available for women, on an outpatient and inpatient basis.


Department of Pediatrics:

                           The pediatric department provides excellent medical care for children through the outpatient department, inpatient wards and casualty, including neonatal resuscitation, neonatal care and immunization.

Department of Neonatalogy

              The neonatalogy department is an extension of the pediatric department at the Duncan Hospital.

              It cares for babies born both in the hospital and elsewhere. The present neonatal unit has been upgraded compared to the previous unit. It is now a well-equipped unit with many services and facilities that can be offered to the neonates

Dental Department:

                                      The department provides dental treatment to outpatients with a variety of conditions. The also conduct special events for World No-Tobacco Day and other community events.

                                     The Community Dentistry training program has provided training to Dental Auxiliary personnel from within India and from other countries. With this training, they can reach people who are deprived of dental care in remote areas

Department of Orthopedics

                                                  The Orthopedics department offers OPD care as well as management of trauma, infections, diabetic feet, hand surgery, pediatric orthopedics, spinal trauma and infections.
